Marta Magdalena is KPJAYI Authorized Ashtanga Yoga Teacher with over 15 years of experience as yoga practitioner and almost a decade as a yoga teacher.
Born in Poland, Marta begun her adventure with yoga at the age of 16, when suffering severe back pain and muscular tension, she was looking for anything that would bring her relief. After becoming familiar with basic asanas and breathing practices as a self-taught home practitioner, in 2003 she stumbled upon Iyengar Yoga classes and kept practicing this method for the 6 following years. In 2009, after she healed her body with the gentle asana practice, she discovered Ashtanga Yoga. Guided Ashtanga classes, were for her not the ‘love at the first sight’ but she was not giving up.
Once she moved to Berlin in 2011, she committed to Mysore practice and until today she never gave up on this daily routine.
Despite being a teacher, Marta considers herself as a yoga student, strictly following the method as taught by Ashtanga Yoga Guru and her teacher Sharath R. Jois. She follows the lessons of mindfulness given by spiritual teachers - Pema Chödrön, S.N. Goenka and Thich Nhat Hanh as well as western masters Jon Kabat Zinn and Max Strom. After having attended the intensive training by Mindful Birth Australia in 2018, Marta is also qualified to teach pregnant women.
Inspired by her teachers and self-practice, Marta brings a unique sense of discipline and dedication to each of her classes. Very compassionate towards beginning students (also students with physical disabilities), she shares her passion towards hard work with those, who can do more.
As a practitioner of Mindfulness, Marta tries to make her students aware of their own breath and encourages them to act mindfully. She believes, that yoga is for everyone, and that the only obstacle for the practice, is the one created by the mind.
