This workshop focuses on the techniques and processes to get you into basic arm balances safely. By understanding the body mechanics and correct alignment, this can help you build a strong foundation for arm balances without injuries while having fun!

Workshop Part 2: Advancement for Arm Balances
Take a step further and challenge your arm balances with smooth transitions between different poses! This workshop is recommended for practitioners who have been practising basic arm balances. With control and awareness, understand the different types of muscle engagement to transit from pose to pose safely. You will also learn about various modifications to cater to different levels of practitioners for a mindful practice.

This 4 weeks Ashtanga Course is dedicated to everyone who wishes to learn and experience the dynamic practice of Ashtanga Yoga.

The primary series of Ashtanga Yoga known as Yoga Chikitsa (Yoga Therapy) was one of the first yoga practices introduced to the students in the west.

During the course, you will become familiar with the unique breathing method practiced in Ashtanga Yoga known as “deep breathing with sound”. You will also learn the other key aspects of Ashtanga which are the Bandhas (energy locks) and Drishti (gazing point) which are an important company to the asana practice.

You can expect to sweat and bend, but most of all, you will learn one of the most powerful practices of yoga, which is often referred to as a mother of all Vinyasa based styles of yoga.

AWARENESS THROUGH MOVEMENT (ATM) WORKSHOP with Eddie (a.k.a Maverick)

MOVE: Movements by themselves do not represent a system, style or trend. They are already possible based on the unique design as a living being. When we move with awareness though, grace follows.

CREATE: Do we very often assess movements as 'right' or 'wrong'? Or do we label our body as 'beginner', 'intermediate', 'advanced'?

If the movements are in congruency with joint mobility and intention, the judgement falls away.

PLAY: Children project the purest form of spontaneous living... free flow and uninhibited until fear is introduced and judgment of 'wrongdoing' is passed.

Why do we program our body to only move in a predictable fixed routine? And why do we resist a trajectory of movements that are not fixed and predictable?

Step into the unknown. ATM uses a technique called pandiculation to release involuntarily muscle contraction.

Chronic pain, tension and various forms of dis-ease are a result of repetitive reinforcement of habitual patterns that are so deeply ingrained that we have accepted as 'norm'.

The techniques used re-educate the nervous system to release chronic muscle tension in an organic way without intrusion, pain and unnecessary strain.

A pain-free body is a happy body for nurturing a healthy mind.

BENEFITS of the practice are a multitude, including:

SOUND BATH FOR DEEP RELAXATION AND HEALING
with Akashakti

Sound Bath is a deeply immersive, full-body listening experience, intentionally using sound to invite gentle yet powerfully therapeutic and restorative effects to the mind and body.

The sound of a meditation gong induces a state of spontaneous meditation and relaxation, which facilitates the movement of Chi or Prana (positive life force) throughout the body. On a physical level, the vibrations eliminate tension, stimulate the circulation and glandular systems, and regenerate the parasympathetic nervous system. This experience can be helpful for anyone who wants to access the benefits from meditation or a moment of relaxation. It can be beneficial to both beginners of meditation and experienced meditators as you are lulled from a Beta, or awake state, into a Theta, or lucid dream state; a state that allows our bodies to relax, heal and rejuvenate. The sound waves gently clear blockages to restore inner harmony. Not only does the mind, emotion and body undergo stimulation, but the sound purifies and quietens the mind post session – awakening higher states of consciousness that are conducive to healing and transformation.

Join us for our debut 90-minute Sound Bath event to awaken your full potential through breath work and energetic movements, while the powerful sound currents of the Earth Gong open up the portals and vibrate every cell in your body.

Pamela Akasha Kaur (Akashakti) is a KRI Certified Kundalini Yoga and Conscious Pregnancy teacher and a Gong and Reiki Level 2 Practitioner.

In a typical gong bath setting, you lay on a mat with a cushion for support and a blanket over you. Eyes are closed shut and ears are stimulated by the sound of the gong “washing” over you. Within 20 minutes, your brain changes state and the body relaxes. Your body will do what it needs, from sleeping to having visualisations. It is a sound detox with after effects of the sound remaining in the system up to three days. One would need much fresh clean water after- a happy buzz may even be experienced for the following days.

Bring harmony to each of the 5-elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Space within the body-mind constitution with these flows of postures to move energy along the elemental meridian pathways. First in the series: Grounding and belonging: a returning to EARTH One of the greatest qualities of the EARTH is to provide an impartial, non-judgmental, supportive habitat for countless beings, one that we can call home, a place to belong to in space. Correlating to the Spleen (Yin) and Stomach (Yang) meridians, a balanced EARTH Element invokes qualities of centeredness, awareness, self-satisfaction, boundaries, safety, belonging and self-less giving. When out of balance, one can experience stuck-ness, a fear of being lost, ungrounded-ness, loss of identity, a lack of concentration and being unsympathetic. In this practice, we will stretch and strengthen the Spleen and Stomach meridians through a carefully curated sequence of asanas, as well as utilize mudras, visualizations and affirmations, as a means to bring balance to the EARTH elemental energies within our body/mind complex. HANDSTAND & HEADSTAND 2-DAY WORKSHOP

Grow in confidence in your headstand and handstand journey with safe and progressive steps.

We will:

  • Look at the similarities and differences between the common headstand and handstand arms and shoulder positions. Understand why one arm position may be more suitable for your body proportions than another.
  • Move through a flow practice that will target the muscular actions and prepare the body for inversions.
  • Explore headless headstand which has no pressure on the neck, basic headstand, puppy press and tucked handstand.
  • Learn to work safely on the techniques for these poses with wall, props and partner assists.
  • Ensure a balanced practice with wrist stretches and releases.

About Caroline
After a career spanning two decades in the corporate and finance worlds, Caroline took a break and stepped into her first yoga class in 2004. This immediately kindled an enduring passion in yoga, eventually prompting her to undertake her first yoga teacher’s training in 2012. An experienced teacher with 4,000 classes under her belt, she has also attained a 500-hour Advanced Vinyasa Teachers Training with Jason Crandell focusing on the alignment-based Vinyasa method.

A prominent part of her teaching experience has been with major fitness chains and boutique yoga studios, offering both beginner and intermediate level classes. In addition, she has had the pleasure of providing corporate classes to many established corporations. Thus, she is familiar with the needs and aspirations of widely diverse yoga participants.

Embodied Dance Movement (EDM):
THE ELEMENTS

Join us with creator of Embodied Dance Movement (EDM), Daniel *Sonic* Rojas, for a 2-hour workshop, in which we will explore the deeper layers of our human form through movement and the Five Elements – Ether or Space, Air, Fire, Water, Earth. EDM brings together different movement cultures including dance, martial arts, yoga and physical conditioning, as well as musicality and emotions. During this series, practitioners will journey from Earth to Space, enhancing their body awareness, developing an intelligent self-practice of conscious movement and exploring embodiment of elemental qualities. Expect transformation from this art form, which will leave you with a deeper understanding of your human form and better alignment of your physical faculties. This series is open to all levels of practitioners from beginners to professional movement enthusiasts. No dance experience is necessary.

EDM is a mindful movement methodology created by Daniel Sonic Rojas from an accumulation of more than 25 years experience as a professional dancer and movement enthusiast, and developed through intense self practice and a deepening journey of experiencing movement in a holistic way. EDM specializes in the foundational understanding of body mechanics so that one can find the rhythm in all movements. Through its integrative approach, EDM dissolves the boundaries between movement cultures with the aim of deepening body awareness, connecting to feeling and developing an intelligent self practice of conscious movement as a foundation for all movers.

The five core principles of EDM include mobility, alignment, strength, feeling and locomotive movement. These principles are explored through isolations, animalistic movements, creative calisthenics, embodiment of emotion and bio-energetic flows between movement and stillness.

Daniel Sonic Rojas is known around the world for his movement creativity and dance mastery. Combining his Latin roots and his experiential journey of many years as a dedicated movement practitioner, Daniel created EDM.
